A living orchard powered by the Sun and Rain
Devarayanadurga, a place of reverence and belief, forms the backdrop for our carbon positive, rainwater harvested, agro-forest. We would love to meet and share our experience...
What inspires us
Our roots
We have generations of association with Tumkur and surrounding areas. Though our ancestors were farmers, but one whole generation skipped farming. It now feels like we are first time farmers, but we have a zest to give back to our land!
Sun and Rain fed farm
We are investing in ensuring that we are able to run "off-the-grid". Our lake collects rain water and ensures that there is adequate water for the flora and fauna that calls our farm home. We also generate our own power for irrigation using solar energy and will shortly start exporting electricity to the grid.
Creating a thriving agro-forrest
It was an eye-popping moment when someone told that Mango trees are planted 20 feet apart in a contemporary farm, while in a forest, trees grow 3 feet apart without any help from a human. This started our journey In discovering how to increase our tree cover while still generating food.
So where are we?
Our orchard based on our core principles around sustainability is about 65 KMs from Bangalore towards Tumkur, just a few KMs from Devarayanadurga's famous Narasimha temple and the sacred Namada Chilume.
Nestled in the divine hills, we consider it our duty to protect our beautiful surroundings.
